Last year, we looked at the Renaissance and the Reformation: the fracturing of Christendom. This year, we will look at the
Subjects covered in this course: History, Politics, Timeline, Family-style Read-alouds, Poetry, Physics and Fine Arts Appreciation (music and visual art).
During this period of education, we are very much focused on producing children who love reading, who are excellent readers themselves and who are becoming proficient at handwriting, spelling and grammar. We work on our reading skills by reading the engaging living books that we have assigned and looking at their use of beautiful language and grammar. This method of education combines and interweaves as many subjects as possible to ensure the child is engaged and truly learning, all without time-consuming and mindless workbooks!
Our Irish homeschool year is divided into four separate and distinct Terms, during which we will focus on a particular aspect of Modern History. Throughout the year, we will utilise a number of living books to fully immerse ourselves in the particular time periods. We also use a politics book for children and we will enjoy learning some basic Physics–and making our own robot!
