Our homeschool Irish Language Courses provide a complete and challenging education in the Irish Language–for home study! Ideal for home educators who are using a different curriculum, or for the Irish living abroad.
Available by popular demand! Our single-subject Homeschool Gaeilge (Irish Language) Courses offer a complete 36-week course in the Gaeilge for Irish children–for use at home! Our home-study Courses are specifically designed to inspire in our children a deeply-felt love for our native language and for our own dear Ireland. One of our primary goals here at The Hedge School is to ensure all of our students and enrolled families love our Native Language! Irish is a beautiful language; a wonderful treasure from our ancestors; a lovely means of expression for us Irish. We accomplish this by selecting relevant and user-friendly materials, by ensuring a lot of audio aids are available for parents–and by always being here for our enrolled families! We love Irish and want our students to, as well!
Our Home Study Gaeilge Courses comprise 36 weeks of Lesson Plans (for 4 days per week). These are paper Lesson Plans, printed and bound here in Ireland, and shipped to your door within a few days of your order. Beginning in First Class, we provide a full Answer key to all exercises and Lessons, as well as Teaching Tips and links to other optional resources to help you and your family embrace Gaeilge as a spoken, every-day language–as much as possible! Our Lessons are scheduled at a relaxed and engaging pace. We want you to love Irish as much as we do!

Infants: Gaeilge Courses
At this level, we focus primarily on oral language use. We want our children to become familiar with the sounds and nuances of the Irish language, before beginning to read or write in Irish. We use engaging songs and rhymes–and also build vocabulary with a lovely picture book.
Primary: Gaeilge Courses
In First and Second Class, we begin to read and write in Irish. We utilise a phonics text to help out, and we build our reading confidence with the vintage Soilse readers.
After building a firm foundation in Irish, we introduce Grammar in Third Class, and expand upon this in Fourth through Sixth Classes.
