Description

Weekly live Irish Language Classes with an Irish speaker/Primary School teacher. Classes are held via Zoom.

2 Levels available: THIS CLASS is Improvers Level (approx. 4th-6th Class level Irish). We’re also offering an Beginner Level Class (appx. 1st-3rd Class level), available at this link: Beginner Level. Read on for sibling discounts if you need both courses.

Course Description: Through one LIVE CLASS every week (see schedule below), students will improves upon their understanding and appreciation of the language of our country. This is a school-year-long course, running from September through May.

Important Information: Parents must be present in the room for classes, as a core component of the class is ongoing weekly practise with your student. (Present in the room, but you don’t have to be physically sitting at the computer for the whole class–we understand parents have other responsibilities!)

Total Classes: 30 classes
Venue: All classes will meet via Zoom
Class dates: All classes will meet on Mondays at 10:00 am Irish Time, on the following dates:
September 8, Sept 15, Sept 22, Sept 29
October 6, Oct 13, Oct 20, (Break for October Bank Holiday)
November 3, Nov 10, Nov 17, Nov 24
December 1, Dec 8, Dec 15, Dec 22
(Christmas Break)
January 12, Jan 19, Jan 26
February 2, Feb 9, (Febuary mid-term), Feb 23
March 2, Mar 9, Mar 16, Mar 23
(Easter break)
April 13, Apr 20, Apr 27
(Break for May Bank Holiday)
May 11, May 18

Class times: This, the Improvers Level (approx. 4th-6th Class level) will meet at 10:00am Irish time, on the above dates

Duration: 40 minutes

Homework: Participants are expected to practise the weekly class assignments with their parents/siblings.

Families are encouraged to use either our own Irish language curriculum plans, or any other suitable Irish language curriculum plans/National School textbooks for their main learning. This is meant to be a supplement–speaking and usage practise–not an complete course in-and-of-itself.

About your Instructor: Participants are expected to practise the weekly class assignments with their parents/siblings.

Fees: For all 30 classes: €165, which is just €5.50 per class!

Siblings: Option A) Sibling is at the same level of Irish: no need to purchase multiple classes, just join in!.

Need to cancel?: Email us ASAP if you need to cancel. Your payment is fully refundable anytime before 1st September. Between 1st September until 31 December, your payment is 50% refundable. After 1 January, we will not be able to offer a refund.

Note: Classes will not be recorded. As this is a class for speaking and usage practise, it is essential that children attend classes in person.

About Nicola Uí Shúilleabháin

Nicola Uí Shúilleabháin is a Primary School Teacher with experience in many different areas within the educational system.
Having worked in special and mainstream school settings in Ireland and New Zealand, Nicola took the opportunity to work as an advisor within the Professional Development Services for Teachers for several years. Here she supported teachers all over Ireland as part of the team for the New Primary Language Curriculum- Curaclam Teanga na Bunscoile.
Nicola has a great love for Gaeilge which she inherited from her own mother who was born and raised in Connemara. She has completed the Ard Teastas na Ghaeilge with Ollscoil na Gaillimhe.
Nicola lives in the Connemara Gaeltacht with her family and is enjoying raising her three lovely children. She is a catholic and is raising her children in the faith with her husband.

    Gentle, fun learning through song.
    The teacher is encouraging, enthusiastic, and gives every child the same attention.
    The interactive classes are fantastic and I would be happy to recommend to a friend.
    I am confident the classes will help to instil a love for Irish as all of my children are very happy during and after the class.
