Description

Our user-friendly, four-day-a-week Lesson Plans guide you through day-by-day readings and activities with your child. With our selection of engaging stories and delightful characters, as well as fun activity and colouring books–your child will be excited to be homeschooling! Here’s a overview of what you can expect from our Junior Infants Curriculum:

In our RELIGION course, we’ll study the history of our creation and God’s loving care for the Israelites, culminating in the greatest event in human history—our Redemption. We’ll also study the lives of some of the most popular Saints.

In our study of GAEILGE, we’ll learn some new vocabulary and enjoy listening to a collection of songs and rhymes in Irish. We’ll also utilise a National School textbook alongside
some engaging readers (all with helpful audio resources!)

In the LITERATURE course this year, we’ll be reading several Good Books specifically written for the youngest children. Your child will work on listening and comprehension skills as we introduce him to some of the best literature of our culture. We’ll enjoy hearing about the exploits of Peter Rabbit, Benjamin and the Flopsy Bunnies, and then the many adventures of Pooh Bear and Christopher Robin in the Hundred Acre Wood.

Next, we’ll read some of the fairy and folk tales from the Western Tradition and we’ll complete the year with a simple chapter book. All throughout the year, we’ll explore the
richness of the English language with our study of the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson and A.A. Milne

In the HISTORY & GEOGRAPHY curriculum, we’ll explore some of our most well-known myths and legends, then enjoy a colourful and fun introduction to our beautiful Island. Finally, we will read a selection of Saints’ lives who lived and worked here before us.

In our study of SCIENCE, we’ll look at some of the most common animals and plants of Ireland, all arranged by season. To further explore these topics, we will utilise the fantastic Exploring Nature: Activity Book for Kids. We will spend a lot of time in nature this year (and next!), gaining important first-hand knowledge of God’s world around us.

Finally, in our study of the FINE ARTS, we’ll examine 24 famous works of art. We will also enjoy the amusing orchestral tale of Peter and the Wolf, and we will then see how the instruments are well able to impersonate various animals—such as a tiger and a bear!—in the delightful Carnival of the Animals. We hope that this year will be a lovely introduction to the Good, the True, & the Beautiful for your child.

In summary, we will begin to explore our Holy Faith and God’s world around us this year, as we prepare for Senior Infants!
